Governor expands Reopen Texas plan to Phase 2
Governor Abbott today announced the second phase of Open Texas and provided an updated list of what types of businesses and activities can resume and when. The list of openings are below. Details on each opening checklist are available at the Open Texas website.
▪️Gyms, exercise facilities (previously announced May 5)
▪️Hair salons, barbershops (previously announced May 5)
▪️Non-essential manufacturers and other offices (previously announced May 5)
▪️NEW - Massage and personal care businesses (includes tattoo and piercing studios, laser hair removal, hair loss treatment)
▪️NEW – Child care centers
▪️NEW – Youth clubs (YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.)
▪️Restaurants at 50 percent capacity
▪️Bars, tasting rooms, and similar establishments at 25 percent capacity
▪️Bowling alleys, Bingo halls, skating rinks, and simulcasting
▪️Rodeo, equestrian events
▪️Zoos (outdoor areas)
▪️Professional sports without in-person spectators
▪️Day/overnight youth camps
▪️School districts can hold summer school if following social distancing guidelines

Governor extends state’s disaster declaration
Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation May 12 extending his Disaster Declaration for all Texas counties in response to COVID-19. Originally issued on March 13 and extended on April 12, the Disaster Declaration provides the state a number of resources to effectively serve Texans as the Lone Star State continues to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

City Council approves resolution continuing Sixth Amended Declaration of Public Health Emergency
The Mansfield City Council approved a resolution at its May 11 meeting to continue the Sixth Amended Declaration of Public Health Emergency until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, May 19 . The sixth amended declaration aligns with the Governor’s executive orders in GA-21.

Governor Abbott releases a video on the importance of social distancing
211 Texas activated
The State of Texas has activated the statewide 211 network to provide COVID-19 information 24/7 to residents. 211 specialists from across the state are available to answer the most frequently asked, non-medical questions on the coronavirus based on material provided by the CDC and the DSHS. Any questions the 211 specialists cannot answer will be referred to the information lines of the state health department and local public health officials, in Mansfield’s case the Tarrant County Health Department.
