Parks & Rec COVID-19 Information

7Our parks, programs and facilities have a number of changes due to the current public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 virus. Please check this page for updates in the constantly evolving situation. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep everyone safe and healthy.

This information is current as of 3pm on March 25, 2020.

parks and facilities

The following Mansfield Parks facilities are CLOSED to the public:

Mansfield Activities Center
Parks & Rec Administration Office
All athletic fields
Park drinking fountains
*Mans Best Field Dog Park opening has been delayed due to the restrictions; no date has been set at this time.

The following facilities remain open:

All parks, playgrounds and trails are open on their regularly scheduled hours, but we ask that you please use caution before visiting. It is impossible for the city to disinfect park equipment and furnishings in a manner to totally eradicate the potential spread of COVID-19. Our crews are working hard to keep the parks clean. But the safest way to avoid the spread of dangerous germs is to stay home.

  • Please stay home if you or anyone in your family doesn’t feel well.
  • If you arrive to an already-packed playground, consider coming back another time, or hopping on the linear trail for a family walk instead of staying in the busy playground area.
  • We have increased our cleaning schedule and added additional sanitization for door handles and faucets, but the best precaution is simply to stay home and wait for this to pass.

Not sure if you should go to the park, or would you like some help explaining the new restrictions to your kids?
