Building Safety
The Building Safety Department is committed, through a cooperative effort with our residents, to providing outstanding service by ensuring commercial buildings and residential homes constructed, altered, or maintained in Mansfield meet the recognized standard for overall quality of life and building safety.
ONLINE APPLICATION AND PLAN REVIEW The Avolve Online Application and ProjectDox Electronic Plan Review Systems has been implemented to allow us to process your applications for building permits and conduct the required plan reviews electronically. All applications, plans, and payments associated with permits and registrations will be processed via our online systems. BUILDING PERMIT FEES Effective September 12, 2022, City Council approved building permit fees for blanket permits. Individual trade permits must still be obtained even though there is no further cost involved. The fee schedule can be found here. |
Code Adoption
The City of Mansfield has adopted the 2018 Building Codes with an effective date of Aug. 1, 2019.
The Texas Commission on Licensing and Regulation adopted the 2023 NEC as the electrical code for the State of Texas and established it as the "minimum standard" for all electrical work in Texas covered by the Act.
Construction Hours
Allowable construction hours in all zoning districts are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Central Standard Time. Outdoor construction activities are not allowed during the following days:
- Sundays
- During the following designated holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
Construction Hours Appeals
Outdoor construction hours may be appealed to the City Manager’s Office on a case-by-case basis when unique circumstances prevail. Contact Sara Bench for information. Appeals must be in writing, state the specific dates and times of the proposed outdoor construction activity, and must include a detailed basis for the request. Work that must be inspected may not be completed/covered without an inspector's approval.
