What is Summer Reading Club?

Summer Reading Club is an engaging learning program that encourages all ages to read over the summer for prizes and discover new things by attending library programs. Everyone is invited to join in the fun, young children to adults. There is a large body of research demonstrating that summer slide can cause students to lose 2-3 months of learning, even more for students in low income families without access to books. Now is the time to sign up for our Summer Reading Club and beat the summer slide!

How do I complete the challenge?

This summer's goal is for all ages to read at least 20 days, no matter how long each day. You could read for 15 minutes or hours, it all counts as long as your read on a daily basis. Days do not need to be consecutive. Kids in Kindergarten to eighth grade can earn a draw-string backpack, a book of their choice, and more if they complete the 20 day challenge. Also the more reading you log, the more entries you will receive into grand prize drawings. The more you read, the better chances of winning this summer!

How long is the reading challenge?

The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 1, 2023 to July 28, 2023. All reading and activities must be logged by July 26 to be counted towards grand prizes.

How do I win prizes?

Simply log days of reading, activities and book reviews to earn tickets. Tickets go towards your choice of grand prize drawings with winners chosen at the end of the summer. Prizes need to be picked up at the Mansfield Public Library.

I don’t live in Mansfield, can I still participate?

Mansfield non-residents can still participate in the Summer Reading Club, however, if you win a prize, you must pick up that prize at the library, 104 S. Wisteria St. Mansfield, TX 76063.

How do I pick up my prize?

Winners must be present to pick up prizes at the Mansfield Public Library at 104 S. Wisteria St. Mansfield, TX, 76063. Winners will be contacted after July 26 to make arrangements for pickup. If the winner does not respond to multiple contact attempts or does not pick up their prize one week after contact, a new winner will be chosen.

Do I need to have a library card?

A library card is not required to participate in the summer reading club. However, winners must be present to pick up prizes at the Mansfield Public Library at 104 S. Wisteria St. Mansfield, TX, 76063.

Is there a charge to do this?

There is no charge to participate in the summer reading club. Read as much as you like and log your hours that you are reading in Beanstack.

What are badges in Beanstack?

A badge visually represents what the reader has completed from logging in, finishing activities, completing reviews and much more. Start collecting all types of badges today!

What kind of reading counts towards my Summer Reading Club challenge?

The answer is simply, any! We encourage you to read all kinds of materials and formats from online sources, books, comic books or even listening to an audio book. Even preschoolers can participate by having a caregiver read to them.

What age groups can participate?

All age levels can participate in the Summer Reading Club. From young children with caregivers all the way to adults may start reading and logging hours to earn great prizes!

How it works

First, you sign up for a free Beanstack account for yourself or the whole family. Next, start reading, logging your minutes and participating in activities. As you log reading minutes, books, and activities, you start earning tickets and badges that go toward entries into grand prize drawings. You can sign up for the summer reading club by either clicking on the "Sign up now for SRC" button above to access Beanstack from your computer or through the Beanstack app. The Beanstack app is available in iOS or Android.
