2011: Killian and Piedmont Parks

Killian Park: 901 Killian Drive

Killian Park is an 18-acre neighborhood park in Northwest Mansfield with a fishing pond, playground and small pavilion.

Piedmont Park: 1299 Piedmont Drive

Piedmont Park is an 8-acre neighborhood park in Northwest Mansfield with a fishing pond, playground and two pavilions.

Origin

Piedmont and Killian parks were built in the late 2000s as part of the Woodland Estates development and dedicated to the city in 2011 through the Park Land Dedication Ordinance.

Namesake

Originally, both parks were called Woodland Estates Park, or occasionally “Woodland Estates Park on Piedmont Drive” for wayfinding clarification. While connected via property lines, due to the pond and thick brush, there is no accessible route between the two, which essentially operate as separate, individual parks. The naming and different entrance addresses often led to confusion, so in 2019 the parks were officially reclassified as Piedmont Park and Killian Park.
