Mansfield Youth Council (MYC)

Overview

The Mansfield Youth Advisory Council is a group of high school students who advise city leaders regarding matters related to youth or that impact the future of the City. About 11 - 15 members, this group represents their peers and other young people across Mansfield. In addition to acting as advisors and representatives, the group plans and participates in projects that make progress towards the Youth Council’s and City’s goals.

Meetings

Meetings for the Mansfield Youth Council occur during the first week of every month during the school year at a specified time/date. This time/date is determined by the Youth Council Members during their orientation (which occurs each August).

Meeting locations are subject to change, please contact the MYC Staff Liaison or check the posted agenda to verify the location of the meeting.

Application Requirements

To qualify for membership to the Mansfield Youth Council, an applicant must:

  • Be a Mansfield resident in grades 9 - 12 during the term they are applying for (terms start August 1st and end July 31st);
  • Have and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher;
  • Complete the application and interview process;
  • Complete orientation (in August);
