Stormwater Public Outreach

Stormwater Public Outreach programs are designed to provide opportunities for local residents and businesses to take part in protecting our local waterways. Various activities will be held throughout the year where volunteers will be sought, like the Creekside Cleanup and Cookout.

Whether acting as a volunteer or a participant, taking part in Stormwater Public Outreach programs can lead to improvements in the quality of our local waterways.

Household Hazardous Waste Program

Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) are any products with a warning label that can generally be purchased in a store. These include:

  • Antifreeze
  • Fertilizers
  • Gasoline
  • Herbicides
  • Motor oil
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Stains
  • Strippers

The City offers safe disposal of these products through periodic mobile collections in town at the Environmental Collection Center.

Fats, Oils & Grease Collection

Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOGs) should not be poured down the sink or dumped in the environment. They cause blockages and corrosion of sewer pipes leading to surface discharges of sewage and can suffocate aquatic plants/wildlife when dumped in the environment. The City offers safe disposal of these products through year around drop-offs at the Environmental Collection Center.

Neighborhood Beautification Program

The Neighborhood Beautification Program is designed to put the power in the hands of the people. Residents who are interested in taking charge of the image of their community are encouraged to contact the Environmental Services Department to get more information about this exciting new program. Some supplies, and limited assistance will be provided by the Environmental Services Department, but it is local leaders who will select the areas, recruit volunteers, and host the event.
