Mansfield Park Facilities Development Corporation

Overview

The Mansfield Park Facilities Development Corporation administers the budget generated by a half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 1992 to fund Parks and Recreation facilities. Since then, the board has overseen the construction of a major athletic complex for soccer and baseball, the renovation and expansion of several city parks, and the construction of the city's first recreation center: the Mansfield Activities Center (MAC).

MPFDC member since: 2021
Lived in Mansfield since: 2011
Day job: President/CEO of a racing services company
Favorite park: Walnut Creek Linear Park & Michael Skinner Sport Complex
Why I serve: "I love giving back to the community. I've had the great opportunity to serve on the 2020 Mansfield Parks 10 Year Master Plan Advisory Committee and the MPCC Feasibility Committee as a Mansfield resident. The MPFDC is an amazing group of hard working, very bright and committed people. Getting to work on these projects and committees has re-ignited my love for parks and what they mean for the city. I grew up next door in Dallas as a “rec center” kid and loved every minute. My wish is that every kid and family can have the same enjoyment here in Mansfield. I look forward to working with the board and Parks to continue a strong and vibrant presence in our growing town."

Favorite park: Town Park
Why I serve: "Parks are the places where individuals in a community become true neighbors. Serving as an ambassador on the Mansfield Parks Facilities Development Corporation and being able to give back to the community, is, for me, the truest form of "Loving Thy Neighbor." My hope in working with this team is to foster the feelings of community and inclusivity that allow every person to feel as though they belong in Mansfield, this amazing place we are all lucky enough to call home."

James Tiller (alternate)

MPFDC member since: 2022
Lived in Mansfield since: 2007
Day job: Owner of an optometry practice
Favorite park: Oliver Nature Park
Why I serve: "This is my home and I want my home and everyone in it to have the best that I have to offer. I am new to city serving so my initial thought was to try and choose a part of the city I am familiar with and where I could best concentrate my values and ideas and Parks and Rec is my choice. I enjoy the experience of what my current team and former members have brought to Mansfield and I want to continue with that mission of bringing new thoughts to the table, discussions on improvements and creating new places and experiences for every single age of person that fortunately has Mansfield, Texas as their home."
