Nature Education

  1. Junior Mammalogist - Online(5-8Y)

    Junior Mammalogist Students will learn all about mammals and their adaptations during this class. We will explore mammal species that live right here in our backyards and parks.  Students will learn about teeth, bones, scat, pelts, meet live animals, and more.  We will also complete a craft that is mammal themed. Parents will be emailed a workbook for students to fill out during class as well as additional activities to complete after class. This class will be online via Zoom.  Parents will be emailed student booklets and information at 11 am on Monday April 13th. Please be sure to sign up by then to be sure you get all the materials.

    April classes will be online via Zoom. Join us for science and nature related lessons geared toward a home school audience! The theme for this spring is Nature Explorers. Student registration is for a full season of six classes (dates listed below). Lessons will build on each other throughout the course. Investigations include hikes, science lab experiments, live animal encounters, and other hands on explorations. Preregistration required. Students will be separated into 5-8Y and 9-14Y age groups.

    Streams and ponds provide habitat for a wide variety of interesting organisms.   10. Home School Nature Class - Online(5-14Y)

    April 27, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park

    April classes will be online via Zoom. Join us for science and nature related lessons geared toward a home school audience! The theme for this spring is Nature Explorers. Student registration is for a full season of six classes (dates listed below). Lessons will build on each other throughout the course. Investigations include hikes, science lab experiments, live animal encounters, and other hands on explorations. Preregistration required. Students will be separated into 5-8Y and 9-14Y age groups.
    Class Sessions: Mondays 1-3 pm March 16th March 30th April 13th April 27th May 4th May 18th

    Due to the current situation we will be having class online via Zoom! Your kids will be able to enjoy class and the outdoors safely from their home. We will be emailing parents before class with important information such as our Zoom link, simple craft supplies needed, our song lyrics, and more. Come learn about nature through exploration. The theme this class will be Slimy Snails. Learn about our slow and slimy snail friends and other decomposers. They are the last stop on the food chain eating the things no one else wants to eat! We will also have a story, song, live snails, and craft all about snails!.

    Caring for and supporting a loved one with a mental health challenge can be overwhelming at times and caretakers often become victims of the process themselves due to lack of support and resources. With this in mind, the Mansfield Police Department created a caretaker support group called the Support Now Network where caretakers have the opportunity to gain and give support, share struggles, and discover beneficial strategies and resources to help themselves and their loved one. The Support Now Network is a safe, non-judgmental, and welcoming environment which is facilitated by a certified Mental Health/Crisis Intervention Officer with years of experience in this area who also teaches Crisis Intervention and mental health related courses to officers from all over the Metroplex.
