South Main Street is being reconstructed as an urban complete street. It will be a four-lane roadway incorporating on-street parking, bicycle and pedestrian facilities and enhanced streetscape. Work will continue through January due to utility conflicts and minor changes in work with adjacent properties. Westside work continues on sidewalks, retaining walls and street lights. Recently placed asphalt will be removed and replaced with a new surface on all four lanes of the road to improve the ride. Final work items will include landscape, irrigation, streetlight wiring, property restoration and installation of benches, trash cans and bike racks. The project, except for crosswalks, is expected to be complete the end of January. Following the above work, a separate asphalt overlay will be completed on North Main Street from Broad to Oak streets including the intersections. Matching crosswalks will then be installed at all intersections of Main Street from Hunt to Oak streets.
This project is complete.
This project includes traffic signal installation at the Commerce Drive/Heritage Parkway intersection, along with improving the curb radius on the northwest corner and minor concrete panel replacements. The curb radius improvements along with the minor concrete panel replacements are complete. The signal infrastructure will be installed in January with the signal operational by the end of January.
A traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of East Broad Street/Mitchell Road. The traffic signal foundations were installed with the East Broad Street expansion project. This project will install the signal infrastructure. The signal is expected to be operational by the end of January.
This project will complete a four-lane, divided thoroughfare from the existing end point near Wayland Court west to Callender Road. It will provide a direct route between FM 157 and U.S. 287. Callender Road will also be completed to the south. The west and north roadway approaches into the Arlington will be limited to transitions on the existing asphalt. Currently the sanitary sewer is complete, and construction of the 12-inch water line is underway. Storm drain and paving work will follow. The project is expected to be completed by October.
This project includes concrete rebuilds of various segments of York Drive and East Dallas Drive (from Walnut Creek Drive to Live Oak Drive). It also includes improving the asphalt eyebrow section on Clover Hill Road and asphalt pavement on Almond Drive between Yarmouth Lane to Fairfax Drive to concrete. Construction will begin on York Drive mid-January with Clover Hill, Almond Drive and Dallas Street to follow.
This project includes rebuilding the asphalt pavement. The work will be performed by Tarrant County through an inter-local agreement. Through this agreement the City purchases materials and Tarrant County provides labor and equipment. Construction will begin mid-January and will take approximately four to six months.
Magnolia Street is being reconstructed to a concrete collector street including a sidewalk on the east side, storm drain improvements and water line and sanitary sewer line replacements. Magnolia Street will be closed from Shady Valley Drive to approximately 300 feet north of East Broad Street beginning Jan. 17 and will remain closed until paving is complete. Closing Magnolia Street will significantly decrease the construction duration of the project. Construction of the 8-inch water line will begin mid-January followed by sanitary sewer and storm drain construction. Paving operations should begin in the spring and be completed mid-summer. This entire project is expected to be completed by the end of summer.
The Mansfield Economic Development Corporation is preparing land it owns at Easy Drive and South Second Avenue for development. This project will construct Klein Boulevard, a four-lane, divided roadway from FM 917 west across South Second Avenue. It also includes constructing South Seventh Avenue, a three-lane, undivided roadway, along the western boundary north to Easy Drive. Both roadways include water, sanitary sewer and storm drain improvements. Also, due to poor pavement condition and anticipated increased traffic volumes, this project includes asphalt improvements to South Second Avenue from the proposed Klein Boulevard south to FM 917. This project will begin in January.
Holland Road will be improved to a four-lane, divided thoroughfare. The project will include finishing the north side of National Parkway west of Holland Road and a few hundred feet to the east. A traffic signal at Holland Road and National Parkway is also included. Plans and specifications are being finalized for bidding. This project requires significant detour pavement be constructed to accommodate project construction. Franchise utility companies have significant overhead infrastructure that must be relocated prior to beginning the project. These utility relocations are currently in design. Once a relocation schedule has been determined, a bid schedule can be finalized for the project.
Day Miar Road will be improved to a four-lane, undivided concrete roadway. Roadway drainage will be curb and gutter with inlets and piping draining to an improved parallel open channel on the west side of the road. The open channel will extend from the south side of Grand Meadow Boulevard to the detention area north of Lake Ridge High School and then cross to the east side of the road through an improved culvert. Sidewalks will be included along both sides of the roadway along with traffic signals at the intersections with Grand Meadow Boulevard and Seeton Road. Mansfield and the City of Grand Prairie have contracted with transportation consultant Stantec to study safety as well as the pedestrian needs around Mansfield ISD school sites to determine if any additional project safety enhancements should be included in the project. Although construction plans will be complete in late 2020, this project will not begin until the City of Grand Prairie is nearing completion of their reconstruction of Seeton Road. Both cities are coordinating schedules to assure acceptable traffic routing in this region. City staff is completing review of 60 percent construction plans and beginning necessary right-of-way acquisitions.
The proposed connector is a four-lane, undivided roadway providing a connection from North Main Street to FM 157 approximately a half mile north of Mouser Way. The connector would reduce traffic volume along the frontage of Legacy High School and at the intersection of Main and FM 157. The connector will eliminate the current skewed intersection of Russell Road and FM 157 and will reduce the flooding potential of Watson Branch upstream of Russell Road. The project is in the conceptual design phase to seek TxDOT approvals and determine right-of-way needs. The consultant is also conducting flood studies of Watson Branch. The project is awaiting conceptual approval from TxDOT.
Price Road will be reconstructed to a 26-foot wide asphalt roadway. Where feasible the project will include bar ditch and driveway culvert improvements to address drainage capacity. The design will also include the realignment of Price Road at the intersection of East Dallas Street, providing a safer intersection closer to 90 degrees than the existing intersection. Design for the project will begin in January.
TxDOT has begun environmental and schematic design of both the northbound and southbound frontage roads of U.S. 287 between the Union Pacific Railroad and Lone Star Road. Also this project will include a signal at the Heritage Parkway/northbound U.S. 287 jug handle intersection. This project is being designed in-house by TxDOT. The anticipated bid date is late 2020.
