New online tool puts city’s development projects on the map

Development Projects Map-Under Construction

Information on the city’s changing landscape is just a click away, thanks to the Mansfield Development Project Map launched this week.

The interactive map, built by city staff in the GIS, planning and building safety departments, provides detail information to users on current and upcoming new development that is navigating its way through the city’s planning and development process.

“The signs of our city’s growth are visible everywhere as you drive across Mansfield,” said Mayor David Cook. “This tool provides a great deal of information about where houses are being built, what new commercial businesses are locating in the city’s newest shopping centers. Development Project Map-Approved ConstructionThe city staff has done a tremendous amount of work in putting this right at the fingertips of our residents or even those that want to become residents. It will also be a great economic development resource for those interested in investing in locating in our city. Want to know what’s being built on the corner? Just check the development project map.”

The development project map will include five categories of information: pending zoning cases, approved zoning cases, projects under construction, projects completed and active residential construction. Each tab will feature renderings or photos of the projects listed, information on zoning or construction and contact details for city staff to obtain more information.

“We’re pleased that our residents are interested in how their community is growing,” said Deputy City Manager Joe Smolinski. “The map will provide a window into the planning and development process so they will be more informed and have a greater understanding of the work being done to build Mansfield.”

The Development Project Map will be accessible from the "How Do I" menu on the website home page, the GIS Department page and the City Newsroom page.
