Mayor amends public health emergency in Mansfield

Mayor David Cook today amended the Declaration of Public Health Emergency for the City of Mansfield originally issued on Wednesday (March 18), implementing additional measures to be consistent with Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order issued March 19. Both the amended declaration and the governor’s executive order go into effect 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 20.

Mansfield has received notification that as of 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, there are two positive COVID-19 cases in the city; one in Tarrant County and one in Johnson County.

The Emergency Declaration activates the City’s Emergency Management Plan.

“We don’t take this action lightly but take it in order to protect the health and welfare of the residents of Mansfield,” Mayor Cook said Wednesday. “We will stay in close communication with the Governor’s office and County officials in the coming weeks to provide the most up-to-date information to residents. We appreciate how our community is already working together to address issues connected with this public health emergency. We will continue to work together as Mansfield always does when we face challenges.”
