Street Projects Under Construction
South Main Street (Broad to Hunt streets) - Street Bond Fund
South Main Street is substantially complete. Remaining miscellaneous items to be installed include street lamps, decorative items, an additional handrail, striping and signage. The pedestrian crossing at Hunt Street will be active once power is provided by Oncor Electric Delivery.
North Street (north of Newt Patterson Road) -2017 and 2018 Tarrant County CDBG, Street Bond Fund
This project is complete.
Turner Warnell Road (Callender Road to Wayland Court) - Street Bond Fund
This project will complete a four-lane, divided thoroughfare from the existing end point near Wayland Court west to Callender Road. It will provide a direct route between FM 157 and U.S. 287. Callender Road will also be completed to the south. The west and north roadway approaches into the City of Arlington will be limited to the transitions to existing asphalt. Currently the sanitary sewer is complete and construction of the 12-inch water line is underway. The storm drain is under construction, and paving work will follow. The project is expected to be complete by October.
Miscellaneous Concrete Roadway Reconstruction
This project includes concrete rebuilds of various segments of York Drive and East Dallas Drive (from Walnut Creek Drive to Live Oak Drive). It also includes improving the asphalt eyebrow section on Clover Hill Road and asphalt pavement on Almond Drive (between Yarmouth Lane to Fairfax Drive) to concrete. Construction on York Drive and the eyebrow are complete. Work is underway on Dallas Drive and Almond Drive. The reconstruction of the asphalt portion of Yarmouth Lane to a concrete street has been added to the projects.
Breckenridge Road (Debbie Lane to cul-de-sac)
This project includes rebuilding the asphalt pavement. The work will be performed by Tarrant County through an interlocal agreement. Through this agreement the City purchases the materials and Tarrant County provides the labor and equipment. Construction is underway. Crews removed from the project due to COVID-19 are expected to return on April 20. The project is will take about four months.
Magnolia Street (East Broad to North Wisteria streets) - Street Bond Fund
Magnolia Street is being reconstructed to a concrete collector street including sidewalk on the east side, storm drain improvements and water line and sanitary sewer line replacements. Magnolia Street will be closed from Shady Valley Drive to approximately 300 feet north of East Broad St. beginning Jan. 17 and will remain closed until paving is complete. Closing Magnolia Streeet will significantly decrease the construction duration of the project. Construction of the storm drain is underway. Paving operations have begun and should be completed in mid-summer. The project is expected to be complete by late summer.
Mansfield International Business Park (Klein Boulevard and South Seventh Avenue)
The Mansfield Economic Development Corporation is developing their property at Easy Drive and South Second Avenue. This project will construct Klein Boulevard as a four-lane, divided roadway from FM 917 west across South Second Avenue and through the business park. It also includes constructing South Seventh Avenue as a three-lane, undivided roadway along the western boundary north to Easy Drive. Both roadways include water, sanitary sewer and storm drain improvements. Due to poor pavement condition and anticipated increased traffic volumes, this project also includes asphalt improvements to South Second Avenue from the proposed Klein Boulevard south to FM 917. This project is expected to be complete by November.
Street Projects Under Design
South Holland Road (Stonebriar Trail to Garden Path Lane) - Street Bond Fund
Holland Road will be improved to a four-lane, divided thoroughfare. The project will include completing the north side of National Parkway west of Holland Road and a few hundred feet to the east. A traffic signal at Holland Road and National Parkway is included in the project. Plans and specifications are being finalized for bidding. This project requires construction of detour pavement for traffic during the project. Franchise utility companies have significant overhead infrastructure that must be relocated prior to start of project. These utility relocations are currently in design. Once a relocation schedule has been determined, a bid schedule can be finalized for the project.
Day Miar Road (Grand Meadow Boulevard to Seeton Road) - Street Bond Fund
Plans call for Day Miar Road to be improved to a four-lane, undivided concrete roadway. Drainage will be curb and gutter with inlets and piping draining to an improved parallel open channel on the west side of the road. The open channel will extend from the south side of Grand Meadow Boulevard to the detention area north of Lake Ridge High School and then cross to the east side of the road through an improved culvert. Sidewalks will be included along both sides of the roadway. Traffi
c signals will be installed at the intersections with Grand Meadow Boulevard and Seeton Road. City of Mansfield and the City of Grand Prairie have contracted with transportation consultant Stantec to study the pedestrian needs and safety around the MISD school sites to determine any additional project safety enhancements. Although construction plans will be complete in late 2020, this project will not begin until the City of Grand Prairie is nearing completion of their reconstruction of Seeton Road. Both cities are coordinating schedules to assure acceptable traffic routing in this region. City staff is completing review of 60 percent construction plans and beginning necessary right-of-way acquisitions.
North Main Street / FM 157 Connector - Street Bond Fund
The proposed connector is a four-lane, undivided roadway providing a connection from North Main Street to FM 157 approximately a half mile north of Mouser Way. The connector is expected to reduce traffic volume along the frontage of Legacy High School and at the intersection of Main and FM 157. It will eliminate the current skewed intersection of Russell Road and FM 157 and will reduce flooding potential of Watson Branch upstream of Russell Road. The project is in the conceptual design phase to seek TxDOT approvals and determine right-of-way needs. The consultant is also conducting flood studies of Watson Branch. Concept approval has been obtained from TxDOT.
Price Road (East Dallas to South Main streets) - Street Bond Fund
Price Road will be reconstructed to a 26-foot wide asphalt roadway. The project will include bar ditch and driveway culvert improvements to expand drainage capacity where feasible. The design will also include the realignment of Price Road at the intersection of East Dallas Street, providing a safer intersection closer. Design for this project is underway.
Heritage Parkway Westbound Lanes (Commerce Drive to South Main Street) - Street Bond Fund
The two westbound lanes of Heritage Parkway will be reconstructed due to current pavement conditions. A sidewalk will be included on the north side of the roadway. Subsurface utility exploration and design will begin soon.
TxDOT Projects
U.S. 287 Frontage Roads (Union Pacific Railroad to Lone Star Road)
TxDOT has begun environmental and schematic design of both the northbound and southbound frontage roads of U.S. 287 between the Union Pacific rail line and Lone Star Road, as well as additional Lone Star bridge lanes. This project also includes a traffic signal at the Heritage Parkway and northbound U.S. 287 intersection. This project is being designed in house by TxDOT. The expected bid date is March 2021.
