Street Projects Under Construction

South Main Street (Broad to Hunt streets) - Street Bond Fund

This project is now complete.

Turner Warnell Road (Callender Road to Wayland Court) - Street Bond Fund

This project will complete a four-lane, divided thoroughfare from the existing end point near Wayland Court west to Callender Road. It will provide a direct route between FM 157 and U.S. 287. Callender Road will also be completed to the south. The west and north roadway approaches into the City of Arlington will be limited to the existing asphalt transitions. Paving on Turner Warnell Road is almost complete. Work on Callender Road will begin soon. The project is expected to be complete by October.

Miscellaneous Concrete Roadway Reconstruction

This project includes concrete rebuilds of various segments of York Drive and East Dallas Street from Walnut Creek Drive to Live Oak Drive. It also includes improving the asphalt eyebrow section on Clover Hill Road and asphalt pavement to concrete on Almond Drive between Yarmouth Lane to Fairfax Drive. The reconstruction of the asphalt portion of Yarmouth Lane to a concrete street has been added to the projects. Construction on York Drive and the eyebrow are complete. Work is underway and nearing completion on Dallas Street, Yarmouth Lane and Almond Drive. The project estimated completion date is Aug. 1.

Breckenridge Road (Debbie Lane to Cul-de-sac)

This project was completed July 1.

Magnolia Street (East Broad to North Wisteria streets) - Street Bond Fund

Magnolia Street is being reconstructed to a concrete collector street including a sidewalk on the east side, storm drain improvements and water line and sanitary sewer line replacements. Paving is complete. Work on storm drain improvements and sidewalk is in progress. The street will be open to traffic late July. This project is expected to be complete in August.

Mansfield International Business Park (Klein Boulevard and South Seventh Avenue)

The Mansfield Economic Development Corporation is preparing the land it owns land near Easy Drive and South Second Avenue for development. This project will construct Klein Blvd., a four-lane divided roadway from FM 917 west across South Second Ave. and through the MEDC. It also includes constructing South Seventh Ave., a three-lane undivided roadway along the western boundary north to Easy Dr. Both roadways include water, sanitary sewer and storm drain improvements. Also, due to poor pavement condition and anticipated increased traffic volumes, this project includes asphalt improvements to South Second Avenue from the proposed Klein Blvd. south to FM 917. Utility work is currently in progress. The project is anticipated to be complete near the end of this year.

Street Projects Under Design

South Holland Road (Stonebriar Trail to Garden Path Lane) - Street Bond Fund

Holland Road will be improved to a four-lane, divided thoroughfare. The project will include finishing the north side of National Parkway west of Holland Road and a few hundred feet to the east. A traffic signal at Holland Road and National Parkway is also included. Plans and specifications are essentially complete. This project requires construction of detour pavement to accommodate the new construction in the project. Franchise utility companies must relocated large segments of overhead infrastructure prior to beginning the project. These utility relocations are currently in design. Once a relocation schedule has been determined, a bid schedule can be finalized for the project.

Day Miar Road (Grand Meadow Boulevard to Seeton Road) - Street Bond Fund

Day Miar Road will be improved to a four-lane, undivided concrete roadway. Roadway drainage will be curb and gutter with inlets and piping draining to an improved parallel open channel on the west side of the road. The open channel will extend from the south side of Grand Meadow Boulevard to the detention area north of Lake Ridge High School and then cross to the east side of the road through an improved culvert. Sidewalks will be included along both sides of the roadway and traffic signals will be installed at the intersections with Grand Meadow Boulevard and Seeton Road. Summer 2020 Road Report mapA study was completed to analyze the pedestrian needs and safety around the MISD school sites to determine any additional project safety enhancements. This project will begin when the City of Grand Prairie nears completion of their reconstruction of Seeton Road. Both cities are coordinating schedules to assure acceptable traffic routing in this region. City staff is working on right-of-way acquisition. The project is expected to bid in summer 2021.

North Main Street / FM 157 Connector - Street Bond Fund

The proposed connector is a four-lane, undivided roadway providing a connection from North Main Street to FM 157 approximately a half mile north of Mouser Way. The connector would reduce traffic volume along the frontage of Legacy High School and at the intersection of Main and FM 157. It will eliminate the current skewed intersection of Russell Road and FM 157 and will reduce the flooding potential of Watson Branch upstream of Russell Road. The consultant is also conducting flood studies of Watson Branch. This project will also add a traffic signal at the future intersection of this roadway with FM 157. Concept approval has been obtained from TxDOT. The traffic signal and improvements to FM 157 are currently under design. This traffic signal will serve the future connector street and the roadway that will serve the proposed development on the eastside of FM 157.

Price Road (East Dallas to South Main streets) - Street Bond Fund

Price Road will be reconstructed to a 26-foot wide asphalt roadway. The project will include bar ditch and driveway culvert improvements to increase drainage capacity where feasible. The design will also include the realignment of Price Road at the intersection of East Dallas Street, providing a safer intersection closer to 90 degrees than the existing intersection. Design is approximately 50 percent complete. The project is expected to bid near the end of this year.

Heritage Parkway Westbound Lanes (Commerce Drive to South Main Street) - Street Bond Fund

The two westbound lanes of Heritage Parkway will be reconstructed, improving pavement conditions on that portion of the roadway. A sidewalk will be included on the north side of the roadway. Subsurface utility exploration is currently in progress. Roadway design will begin soon.

TxDOT Projects

U.S. 287 Frontage Roads (Union Pacific Railroad to Lone Star Road)

TxDOT has begun environmental and schematic design of both the northbound and southbound frontage roads of U.S. 287 between the Union Pacific Railroad line and Lone Star Road, as well as additional Lone Star bridge lanes. In addition, this project will include a traffic signal at the Heritage Parkway/northbound U.S. 287 jug handle intersection. This project is being designed in-house by TxDOT. It is expected to bid in March 2021.
