A recap of the Oct. 26 regular City Council meeting:City Council Meeting Recap

During the 7 p.m. public meeting: 

  • Proclamations and Presentations
  1. Mayor Cook proclaimed Nov. 6 “Arbor Day” in Mansfield and the city received its 14th consecutive Tree City USA recognition from the National Arbor Day Foundation.
  2. The Mansfield City Council and the Code Compliance Department were presented with the American Association of Code Enforcement 2020 Community Service Award. The Code Compliance Department was also named the 2020 Program of the Year by AACE.
  • Sub-Committee Reports
    1. Sub-Committee Chairman Brent Newsom updated the Council on the Revitalization of Historic Downtown Mansfield Sub-Committee meeting of Oct. 19 and a discussion regarding lights for historic downtown buildings.
    2. Sub-Committee Chairman Terry Moore updated the Council on the Public Memorials Sub-Committee meeting of Oct 20 as well as the work of the Veterans Memorial and Tribute Foundation.

 

  • Approved on the Consent Agenda:
    1. Third and final reading of an ordinance approving a zoning change from SF-7.5 to Planned Development at 106 S. 2nd Ave.
    2. Third and final reading of an ordinance amending the zoning ordinance to create a body art and piercing studio use.
    3. Third and final reading of an ordinance amending sections of the zoning ordinance to revise the requirements for applications for concept plans, planned developments, specific use permits and industrial use permits.
    4. Third and final reading of an ordinance approving a request to abandon certain utility and drainage easements in M3Ranch.
    5. Third and final reading amending time restrictions on the Peddlers and Solicitors ordinance.
    6. Second reading of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances to provide regulations for vacant buildings and properties.
    7. Second reading of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances to provide regulations for historic downtown no parking zones.
    8. Approval of the Oct. 12 regular City Council meeting minutes.

 

  • Old Business
    1. Council tabled indefinitely the third and final reading of a zoning change from SF-1/5/12 single-family residential to PD Planned Development for multi-family residential uses at 505 W. Kimbell St. until the request is submitted again by the applicant.
    2. Council approved a resolution to adopt the 2020 Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Master Plan.

 

  • Public Hearings:
    1. Council approved a resolution for the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 Services and Assessment Plan for the South Pointe Public Improvement District (PID).
