City Council Meeting Recap

A recap of the March 8, 2021, City Council work session and public meeting.

Work Session

Council looked at two possible developments for the city. One was a possible residential development in the southwest portion of Mansfield. The other concerned the proposed Lumberyard development that would be food, entertainment and family attractions to the historic downtown. Both of these presentations were preliminary looks at each project. The developers will now work with staff to bring those projects forward for council action.

On the agenda for the 7 p.m. public meeting:

Subcommittee Reports

  • The minutes of the Feb. 22 Revitalization of Historic Downtown Sub-Committee Meeting were approved by the subcommittee members. 
  • The minutes of March 2 Economic Development Subcommittee meeting were approved by the subcommittee members.

Consent Agenda

  • Council approved a request for Special Event Permit for the Pickle Run 2021.
  • Council approval the minutes of the Feb. 22, 2021 regular City Council meeting.

New Business

  • Council approval of an ordinance revising provisions to the appointment, membership and quorum for members of the Constructions Codes Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
  • A resolution was approved updating the City’s Procurement and Purchasing Policy to include provisions for Mansfield-owned businesses as well as minority and women-owned businesses.
  • The Council adopted the Mansfield Public Library Five-Year Strategic plan. This plan, developed by the Library Advisory Board and the Library staff looks at very specific measures to grow our public library and offering expanded services to our residents.
  • The Council discussed and then approved a resolution that would provide relief to water utility customers who were impacted by either damaged water pipes during last month’s winter storm or higher than normal use to prevent pipe damage. The water utilities department updated Council on their efforts in recent weeks to work with residents on this issue and the Council has now provided their support.
