A recap of the City Council meeting Monday, March 22.
Work Session
- The Council heard from Code Compliance staff on a possible program for the City to inspect single-family and multi-family rental properties. The Council directed staff to explore additional staffing for Code Compliance and details on how the program would be structured, budgeted and any ordinance revisions that would be needed.
- The department also presented information on establishing a City Health Department to conduct restaurant and other health inspections in the city. Currently the Tarrant County Health Department serves as the city’s health department and inspects restaurants and other food establishments twice annually.

Proclamations
- Mayor Evans read proclamations for Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Library Week and National Library Workers Day.
Presentations
- The Council tonight heard a presentation on the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Details of this report were provided to Council by our auditors, the firm of BKD, who also stated that the City of Mansfield received a clean audit.
Recognition
- The Council had the pleasure of recognizing the first graduating class of My Mansfield Muni-versity civic academy. These residents had spent the last 11 weeks learning about how their city operates and provides services. We congratulate them on all their hard work and their dedication to learning more about their community.
Subcommittee Reports
- Members of the Local Transportation Issues Sub-Committee approved the minutes of the March 10 meeting.
- Council also received a presentation from Assistant Director of Public Works David Boski that had been given to the local transportation issues subcommittee detailing possible projects for the upcoming Tarrant County Bond election. More information on that will be available soon on the City website.
Consent Agenda
- The Council approved a request for Special Event Permit: Farmers Market at The Local Farmer, located in Historic Downtown Mansfield.
- Council approval the minutes of the March 8, 2021, regular City Council meeting.
- Council approval the minutes of the Feb. 25, 2021, City Council workshop.
New Business
- Council approved a request to approve minor modification to the development plan for property located at 300 S. 2nd Avenue. The plan for the property, zoned planned developed, was changed from two houses to one and also included design changes.
