[ARCHIVED] Summer Reading Club 2021

Summer Reading Club June 5 to July 30 Tails and Tales

Summer Reading Club kicks off on Saturday, June 5. All ages can sign up to log reading minutes and activities that go towards some awesome grand prizes.

What is the Summer Reading Club and why is it important?

Summer Reading Club is an engaging learning program that encourages all ages to read over the summer for prizes and discover new things by attending library programs. Everyone is invited to join in the fun, young children to adults. There is a large body of research demonstrating that summer slide can cause students to lose 2-3 months of learning, even more for students in low income families without access to books. Now is the time to sign up for our Summer Reading Club and beat the summer slide!

How does it work?

  1. Login to your existing Beanstack account or create a new account for yourself and the whole family using a computer or mobile device.
  2. Log all reading minutes and activities.
  3. Earn digital badges and tickets for grand prize drawings.

Summer Reading Club Prizes

The prizes are bigger and better this summer! For starters, kids in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade get a little goodie bag for every five hours of reading that can be picked up at the front desk of the library. Participants of all ages (even adults) that read at least five hours a week, can enter into a weekly prize drawing for a mystery book bag. You never know what you're going to get! Finally, there will be grand prize packs full of treats, best selling books, gift cards, STEM kits, gardening goodies and more! Register for the Summer Reading Club to get the full list of all the grand prizes.

Saving the biggest prize for last -  Everybody will even get a chance to win their very own bicycle! Mansfield Public Library is giving away an adult bike for teens and adults, a kid's bike for children, and a tricycle for little ones. The more you log, the better your chances at winning.

Summer Programs

Programs this summer will be a mix of in-person and virtual due to space and social distancing limitations, however, they will be much more hands-on with engaging activities and all the supplies you may need. Most virtual programs will be hosted live on Zoom with free supply kits to pick up. There will be something for everybody from performers like James Wand for kids, K-pop Club for teens and Step-by-Step Painting for adults, just to name a few. But Wait, There's More!Boredom Buster activity bags in a row

In addition to the virtual programs, there will be tons of free Boredom Buster activity kits given away every week for all ages. No checkout or registration needed, just grab a bag at the front desk and go. There will also be exciting scavenger hunts inside the library for a little prize upon completion.  Also the week after the last day of school, the library will host a Story Stroll at Katherine Rose Memorial Park. Enjoy the fresh air, freedom and a fun story.
