A recap of the joint meeting of the City Council and the Mansfield Independent School District Board meeting Thursday, April 29. No action was taken during this meeting. However, the following items were discussed during a work session format.
Work Session
- Understanding the Funding Mechanisms of Municipalities and Independent School District - Mansfield ISD, Associate Superintendent Michele Trongaard and City of Mansfield, Director of Finance Troy Lestina gave brief overviews of the funding methods for their respective areas.
- General discussion was held regarding the following areas: the impact of multi-family development on Mansfield ISD, the impact of charter schools on Mansfield ISD, and the potential to transfer the Ellis County portion of Midlothian into the Mansfield ISD's service area.
- Joint Branding and Marketing Opportunities for the City of Mansfield and Mansfield ISD - Mansfield ISD, Associate Superintendent Donald Williams, and City of Mansfield, Director of Community Engagement Theresa Cohagen gave overviews of areas the two entities already work together as well as potential new opportunities.
- Next Steps for a Continued Partnership of the City of Mansfield and Mansfield ISD - Both boards discussed and reiterated their commitment to work together for the benefit of the residents and students of Mansfield, Texas.
