City Council Meeting Recap

A recap of the City Council meeting Monday, June 14.

During the 7 p.m. public meeting:

Presentation

  • Chisholm Trail 100 Club presented the Life Saver Award to Mansfield PD

Sub-Committee Reports

  • Members of the Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax Funds and Allocation Sub-Committee approved the minutes of the May 26, 2021 meeting.
  • Members of the Election Integrity Sub-Committee approved the minutes of the May 26, 2021 meeting.
  • Members of the Election Integrity Sub-Committee approved the minutes of the June 1, 2021 meeting.

Staff Comments

  • Nicolette Allen, Assistant to the City Manager, gave an update on associations within the Historic Downtown Mansfield.
  • A Juneteenth update was given by Director of Community Engagement, Theresa Cohagen for the event Saturday, June 19.
  • A preliminary budget update was given by Director of Finance, Troy Lestina.
  • Director of Community Services, Matt Young, gave a brief update on the status of the Veterans Memorial as well as the feasibility study for new recreation center.

Consent Agenda

  • The Council approved a resolution to fund a contract with PALL Corporation in the amount of $46,739 for the completion of network security improvements to the Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant.

  • A resolution authorized an engineering services agreement with Plummer Associates to identify possible sites for a future water treatment plant.
  • The Council approved an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation - Fort Worth District for a partial waiver of the local match funds requirement for the off-system bridge program.
  • Council then authorized a change order with Jackson Construction for additional drainage, water, sanitary sewer and road improvements within Mansfield International Business park.

  • A resolution authorizing an engineering services agreement with Freese and Nichols for water and wastewater planning assistance in an amount not to exceed $123k. 

  • Council authorized an interlocal agreement between the City of Mansfield and North Central Texas Council of Governments for the purpose of making state solid waste grant funds available for an environmental education vehicle.
  • A resolution authorizing the process to place a municipal setting designation on 1101 W. Broad St. and 204 S. 6th Ave.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for: Pickle Cornhole Tournament was approved.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for: King of the Corn was approved.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for: Mansfield Swaperdays was approved.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for:  Downtown Foodie Trail was approved.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for:  Juneteenth Celebration was approved.
  • A resolution authorizing a special event permit for:  The Benefit Event was approved.
  • Council approved the May 24, 2021, regular City Council meeting minutes.

New Business

  • Council considered and approved a Community Activation Grant for the Pickled Mansfield Society.
