[ARCHIVED] Fire at US 287, State Highway 360 extinguished; evacuated residents safe to return home

Fire at US 287 and State Highway 360 on March 23, 2022

One person was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition after a vehicle collided with a 36-inch natural gas pipeline near US 287 and State Highway 360 early Wednesday morning. The collision, which occurred around 1 a.m., resulted in a large fire that has since been extinguished. The gas has also been shut down.  

The Mansfield Fire Department, Mansfield Police Department, Grand Prairie Fire Department and the Arlington Fire Department quickly began evacuating residents within a one-mile radius of the incident. Residents who were evacuated from their homes are now safe to return.

US 287 and northbound State Highway 360 have reopened. Southbound State Highway 360 remains closed. The southbound US 287 frontage road near the area is also closed.
