Here's a recap of the May 9, 2022 regular City Council meeting. 

During the public portion of the 4 p.m. work session: 

  • Council discussed amendments to the Mansfield Code Of Ordinances for the fire department.
  • Council continued discussions about revisions to the Regulatory Compliance Ordinance.

During the public portion of the 7 p.m. meeting: 

Proclamation

  • Mayor Michael Evans made three important proclamations. The men and women of law enforcement were honored with a proclamation recognizing National Police Week. National Correctional Officers and Employees week was also recognized. Additionally, May was designated as Water safety month. 

Consent Agenda

  • Council passed an ordinance to amend Chapter 158 “Standards, Registration, and Inspection Requirements for Multi-Family Dwelling Complexes.”
  • Council passed an ordinance amending sections of Chapter 92, “Health and Sanitation,” regarding swimming pools and spas.
  • Council passed an ordinance amending subchapter “Child Care Facilities,”  regarding minimum standards, definitions, permit requirements, exceptions, and operations.
  • Council approved an ordinance amending Chapter 33, “Fire Department” allowing the city manager to delegate rule making authority regarding ambulances, more streamlined updating of service fees, provision of services in areas outside city limits, and allowing emergency medical facilities to transport.
  • Council approved a resolution authorizing funding in the amount not to exceed $392,324.00 dollars and approval of contracts with Freese & Nichols, Inc. to prepare the Main street to Broad street 16-inch water line for public bidding and construction.
  • Council approved a resolution to fund public improvements and purchase of computer equipment and software.
  • Council approved a resolution to consider approving a BuyBoard contract with Library Interiors of Texas, LLC in the amount of $82,921.00 to move and install library shelves and materials for Mansfield Public Library.
  • Council approved a Special Event Permit request for Shivers Snow Cones.
  • Council approved minutes for the regular meeting held on April 25, 2022.

Public Hearing and Final Reading

  • Council held a public hearing and final reading to amend the Mansfield Code of Ordinances regarding definitions for Articulation, Facade, and Porch.
  • Council held a public hearing and final reading of Ordinance amendments of the Mansfield Code of Ordinances Defining the term Donation Box to require a specific use permit for Donation Boxes.

Public Hearing and First Reading

  • Council held a hearing and first reading regarding an ordinance approving a change of zoning for approximately 60.92 acres on property located at 1400 Flying L Lane to planned development district for single family residential use. 

Public Hearing Continuation and Second and Final Reading

  • Council held a public hearing continuation and second and final reading of an ordinance approving a zoning change for 14.156 acres of land located at the southeast intersection of Debbie Lane and North Walnut Creek Drive to Planned Development for attached townhome single-family and community business commercial by the developer Skorburg company.

New Business

  • Council considered approval of a community activation grant application to be funded through the Community Activation Grant Program.
