The Salvation Army of North Texas named the City of Mansfield the winner of the 2022 Mayoral Challenge after the community raised the most dollars in the region for the non-profit this past holiday season.

City Council members and city staff rang the signature Salvation Army bells asking for red kettle donations to raise $125,230 for those in need. That amount is the highest raised in the 14-year history of the challenge. The contest uses friendly competition to inspire communities in North Texas to raise money for a good cause.

“I want to thank State Rep. David Cook and our Mansfield community partners because without them this would never happen,” Mayor Michael Evans said. “We appreciate the great work that the Salvation Army does in our community.”

The City of Mansfield participates in the challenge along with the communities of Arlington, Dalworthington Gardens, North Richland Hills, and more. Mansfield has won the challenge 13 times.

“This is something remarkable,” said Salvation Army Lt. Konstantin Maslenikov. “It’s a great blessing to the people that we serve together.”
