Mansfield voters have elected Brent Newsom to City Council Place 3 and incumbent Todd Tonore to Place 6 and passed two sales tax propositions, according to the unofficial tabulation.
Official results will be available once all votes are canvassed. The unofficial tabulation shows that Newsom received 2,095 votes compared to Scot Bowman’s 1,734 votes for Place 3. Tonore received 2,432 votes compared to Gary Cardinale’s 1,318 votes for Place 6.
Elected council members traditionally take the oath of office during the City Council’s second meeting in May. Incumbent Councilmember Larry Broseh ran unopposed and will retain Place 7. Councilmembers serve three-year terms. Councilmember elect Newsom will serve the remaining term of Place 3 until May 2024.
Voters passed the two Sales and Use tax propositions. Proposition A, which expands the allotted uses of its Type “A” sales and use tax, including all amounts already collected, for certain Type “B” projects, passed with 2,512 votes for compared to 1,447 votes against. Proposition B, which allows the use of sales and use tax for a professional multi-sport venue and related infrastructure, passed with 2,110 votes for compared to 1,824 votes against.
