Environmental Services

  1. Chunk Your Junk & Shred Day

    October 5, 2019, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Environmental Collection Center (ECC)

    Chunk Your Junk and Shred Day is a chance for residents to bring in their old, bulky items that are too large to set out for regular curbside pickup AND their boxes of materials to be shredded free of cost to the Environmental Collection Center. No household hazardous waste will be accepted this day. Proof of residency required. To expedite your drop-off, please keep bulky items separated and your trash in bags. Please limit 10 bags or boxes of paper to be shredded. All shredding is done on-site. Proof of residency (utility bill or driver's license) is required at the gate. Staff will be available to help unload your vehicle. All children must remain inside the vehicle while dropping off the materials. Materials from businesses or contractors will not be accepted. If you are elderly or disabled and need assistance bringing items to the Environmental Collection Center please contact or call 817-728-3655. Items must be placed on the curb for pick up.

    Join Mansfield Public Library and the Fort Worth Astronomical Society in celebrating International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN). InOMN is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation and appreciation of the Moon. The Fort Worth Astronomical Society will be bringing some amazing telescopes to view the moon and other celestial beauties. We will meet in the field next to the library. No registration is required for this program and equipment will be provided.

    Toddlers 18 months to 3 years old with a caregiver can enjoy 30 minutes of books, songs, finger-plays and rhymes introducing toddlers and parents to developmentally appropriate literature and related activities. This introduces group listening skills and provides interaction with others. Story Time for Tots is every Tuesday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Please check the library calendar for specific dates. No registration is required.

  1. Kayaking 101 (7Y+)

    October 5, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Bowman Springs Park

    Take a break from the hiking trails and get on the water! We will go out in dual-seated kayaks along the creek on Lake Arlington. Participants will enjoy a scenic paddle looking for wildlife and plants with a naturalist. We will also instruct on safety, proper techniques, and a eco-friendly approach to paddle. Each child ages 7-17 years must be accompanied by an adult on the tour.
    Pre-registration required.
