Composting at home can reduce waste sent to the landfill, and create soil amendments for a healthy landscape. Compost piles can be made in a variety of ways and maintained for different purposes. In this class you will learn about the benefits of composting, designing a pile, container options, effective methods to yield high-quality compost, and how and when to use it. The class will be one hour long and taught by a Tarrant County Master Gardener. Mansfield residents: after completing the class, pick up a free bag of goodies to help start your compost pile, while supplies last!

Children at all skill levels can join Chess Club for fast games, slow games, and tournaments every Monday at 5:30 p.m. and most Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. in June and July. In partnership with Arlington Public Library, Mansfield Public Library uses the free online platform ChessKid.com. Chess Kid is a safe, child-friendly platform for learning and playing online chess.

Watch Mansfield's Independence Day weekend fireworks spectacular in grand fashion at The Big Event! One $25 ticket to The Big Event allows you to park your vehicle in the lot between Big League Dreams and Hawaiian Falls, and also allows everyone in your vehicle to enter both of the parks. There must be a seat belt for every person in your vehicle. Enjoy food, games, music from Dallas-based band The Grooveline, entertainment and the Hawaiian Falls wave pool as you wait for the most explosive, awe-inspiring fireworks show in North Texas to begin at 9 p.m. You must have a ticket to park in the lot and enter the parks.
