Composting at home can reduce waste sent to the landfill, and create soil amendments for a healthy landscape. Compost piles can be made in a variety of ways and maintained for different purposes.
In this class you will learn about the benefits of composting, designing a pile, container options, effective methods to yield high-quality compost, and how and when to use it. The class will be one hour long and taught by a Tarrant County Master Gardener.
Mansfield residents: after completing the class, pick up a free bag of goodies to help start your compost pile, while supplies last!
The Environmental Collection Center (ECC) is the City's permanent drop-off facility for unwanted household hazardous materials (anything with a warning label), electronics and recyclables. This facility is operated by the City's Environmental Services Department, and is open the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the Thursday and Friday before the second Saturday, from 3 - 7 p.m.
The future of Mansfield is up to the future residents...and we want to hear from them! Tweens and teens ages 10 and up are invited to participate in a youth focus group at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, at the Parks and Recreation Administration offices. We'll have group discussions and interactive exercises to get their feedback on what sort of features and amenities they'd like to see included in a future recreation center and library. Free to attend, with lots of fun prizes and giveaways!
