1. How do I become a firefighter?

2. What are the minimum requirements to be a firefighter in Mansfield?

• Certified as Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic by the Department of State Health Services by hire date.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age 18.
• Must be a US citizen as evidenced by birth certificate, passport or legal immigration documentation.
• Must have an acceptable criminal history according to the standards set by TCFP and TDSHS.
• Must not be prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, and must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
• Must pass a physical/drug screening as well as a psychological.

3. How do I pay my ambulance bill?

Mansfield Fire Rescue uses a third party for all ambulance billing:

4. How do I obtain a copy of a fire report or my medical records?

Mansfield Fire Rescue processes requests for reports through the City Secretary’s Office located at City Hall, 1200 East Broad St. Requests for reports must be made in writing and are accepted for processing 72 hours after the incident. 

For all Open Records Requests, please complete the Open Records Request Form (PDF) and submit it to the City Secretary’s Office via email or by fax to 817-473-2925. Please be sure to include  your name, telephone number and mailing address.

5. Why does a fire engine go with the ambulance on medical calls?

All firefighters in the City of Mansfield are cross-trained as paramedics. The additional personnel provide faster and better quality care to our patients. The fire engine is able to provide the exact same care as our Mobile Intensive Care Units. 

6. How do I schedule a fire department inspection?

Request your inspection using our Online Request Form. 

7. How do I report a leaking or broken fire hydrant?

Please call Water Utilities at 817-473-8411. If it is a private fire hydrant, the property owner is responsible for all repairs, and is advised that they contact a plumber.

8. Does the Fire Department fill pools with water?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this service.

9. Does the Fire Department provide car seat inspections?

No. Please contact Safe Kids Tarrant County for an inspection location near you.

10. How often should I change the batteries in my smoke detector?

Remember to test your smoke detector monthly and change the batteries at least once a year. If your smoke detector is over 10 years old it needs to be replaced with a new one.
