With the consistent growth of a city also comes the consistent growth of residential and commercial fires. To manage and maintain adequate coverage, the Mansfield Fire Department has expanded it's fire equipment arsenal to ensure fast reaction times.
Each fire station is equipped with a fire engine that is capable of providing advanced life support and technical rescue.
Each fire engine carries at least 500 gallons of water and a multitude of different fire hoses ranging from an 1.75 inch to 5 inches in diameter. The minimum staffing on an engine is 3 firefighter paramedics.
Some of the special equipment carried includes: gas detection meters, thermal imaging camera, and extrication equipment such as the "Jaws of Life." Each firefighter is equipped with personal protective gear including an air pack and a portable radio.
